| Birthdays for August Youth Group members
are, Daltin Abrams and Alecia Lawrence.
We’d like to thank Jennifer Humphrey for the wonderful baked macaroni she treated the youth group to. It means a lot to have support of our parents. Our Second Annual trip to Water Safari was a blast! Our turnout was 18 youth and 6 adults. The t-shirts looked terrific on our group and worked well in keeping track of each other during a short evacuation due to a quick storm that blew through. We had a full day and appreciate the chaperones who helped drive. We are taking this opportunity to announce our end of Summer Jamboree. This fundraiser is to replenish our funds as well as come together with our friends and family before the busy new school year begins. The youth group will get another chance to wear the group shirts with the group as we host a luncheon in Frankfort directly after church on Sunday, August 24th from 12 to 2 p.m. and to a pool party at Anne Montalone’s home until 5 p.m., so mark your calendars. The menu will be announced. Our ongoing endeavors are keeping in touch with Julia Bunce, who we as the Youth Group have chosen to sponsor. As a reminder, next Wednesday, July 30 is the Blood Drive at the Herkimer VFW from 1-7 p.m. For an appointment, call 866-2890. As mentioned, right before her 16th birthday this young lady who is a resident of Herkimer, a classmate of some of our children and a friend to others, was diagnosed with Leukemia. She has undergone radical chemo and now wears a wig to replace the long golden locks of hair she had just a few months ago. We have added Julia to our prayer list, and she is doing as well as can be expected. So far, our group has made lasagna and garlic bread for the family for dinner, gave them a watermelon, and a framed pewter angel to watch over her every day. The youth group made a project of decorating a small jar and filling it with 50 positive messages for daily reading and inspiration. This week we will make a pizza for the family. Linda Rockwood has graciously arranged that our church website be a source for anyone who would like to donate to this family as well as offer words of encouragement. The children exhibit an amazing sense of compassion for this project. We hope to visit with Julia someday. Thank you again for your donations of bottles and for having such wonderful children. Sincerely, Wayne and Brenda Abrams
